The main objective of my diploma paper is to create work in the intaglio printmaking, which enables me to express myself through my work while combining techniques. In the theoretical part I focus on the portrait motive which I link to the individual's identity. I explore concepts as the line and its tonal values, the graphic drawing and the graphic, I also present intaglio printmaking techniques and their expressive possibilities which have helped me when creating. I am interested in the position of the portrait during the 20th and the 21th century which I try to describe from the point of view of the expressionism periods to the present day and with the help of expressive portrait artists. At the end of the paper I present my own work, expressive portraits, where my expressive personality comes to light.
