This bachelor's thesis describes different technologies of wireless network WLAN with the IEEE 802.11 standard. The first part introduces the basic architecture of the network. Key characteristics of technology 802.11ac, which at present is most widely used, are also described. Then, the bachelor's thesis describes developing or recently developed technologies that have appared because of the market's varying needs. The practical part of the thesis shows how WLAN technology can be used not only for internet access, but also for establishing P2P private networks, for which Bluetooth technology has previously been used. By comparing the two technologies we intended to establish which one enables faster data transfer between devices and whether WiFi Direct technology is capable of replace Bluetooth technology.
