In this work, we compare the SkyTrak and TrackMan measurement systems.
The golf swing parameters, common to both, are compared graphically and with
statistical analysis. Comparison was done for measurements with and without
regards to external factors and measurements of various golf players and golf
clubs. It turns out that our SkyTrak unit has a system error in measuring the
side angle, which affects the parameters that use this measurement in its calcu-
lation. SkyTrak’s data is a little less accurate without taking external factors
into account, and significantly worse for less skilled golfers and longer ball flight
distances. With the desire to label golf swings objectivly, we made preliminary
classification models for both systems. The best result gives TrackMan model
with an accuracy of 85.4 %. The best SkyTrak model classifies with an accuracy
of 75.0 %. Future research should try to improve classification accuracy with
fine-tunning of classification algorithms parameters and training models per golf
club type.
