Work demands performing everyday chores in a specific environment. Therefore, work needs to be adapted to the person as much as possible with regard to one's physical dispositions and the manner of carrying out work to make it safer and more health-friendly. The connection between a person and his/her work at the workplace is provided by taking measures and observing the principles from the field of ergonomics. By enabling an ergonomically designed and adapted workplace, the possibilities of physical and mental distress reduce. Consequently, it is not only the employee performance which improves, but also the one from the whole organisation.
A survey regarding ergonomics at the workplace was carried out at the Administrative unit of Črnomelj. The survey involved a questionnaire with 22 open-ended and closed-ended questions. The results show that each post at the unit is adequately ergonomically designed and organised with regard to work equipment and other factors of working environment. However, the survey also shows that the employees are unaware of and uninformed about the correct sitting position at work, as they deal with bodily pains and stress on a daily basis. By exercising various (physical) activities, the employees could themselves contribute to improving their wellbeing.
By implementing the solutions to the issues presented by the survey results, the work process at the administrative unit in Črnomelj would get more effective and the employees would be healthier and more efficient.
