Competition in the industry is very intense nowadays. Due to the open market, there is plenty rivalry among companies within the same area of expertise. All of them are competing for as much of a market share as they can get, to increase their profit. Buying new equipment is one way of increasing your productivity but if it’s not properly used or optimized then the effectiveness of the process can end up being even lower than on previous equipment – This leads us to ask ourselves how to improve equipment effectiveness, to get an edge ahead of other companies. One of these methods is TPM or Total productive maintenance. With the right care, we can improve the life span of the machines, their reliability, increase the total count and quality of products and simultaneously raise the self-esteem and morale of workers in the company. With these measures we can lower the production cost of the product and remain competitive.
Implementation of TPM into a company is shown on an example of a company that produces leather intermediate products. TPM is quite expansive that is why we decided on three main subgroups that have the highest potential to lower the product cost price. These are 5S, Kaizen and autonomous maintenance. Implementation of these methods will be mainly limited to the press for cutting artificial leather.
