This bachelor's thesis covers the problematic of conserving-restoring the painting of Andraž Šalamun Brez naslova 1980 from the collection of the Museum of Modern Art Ljubljana (Moderna galerija v Ljubljani) and a description of the process during December 2016 and January 2017. The first part emphasizes the cleaning of unprimed and visible textile support. Presented are: jute, as a painting support, key factors in the deterioration process, the effect of surface dirt and the different methods of cleaning unprimed support. The process of cleaning the support of the painting is presented next. This was done with a brush and vacuum cleaner, the samples of extracted dust were stored. After the procedure, research was done on the painting. Presented are the measurements of the samples’ mass and pH value, the measure of the threads’ width and the assessment of the supports’mass. The second part highlights the consolidation of the paint layer. Presented are the new materials in modern and contemporary art practice. The making of the technological study, which has been divided into several samples, is based on the basis of researching the painter’s technology and has served for the testing of different glues. With the help of the samples, the injection of acrylic dispersion was chosen. The process of the consolidation is described. After the documentation, the results of the analyses and the assessment of the paint layer’s mass based on the weighing of the painting are presented. The conclusion includes a personal evaluation of the work done with incorporated apprehensions about the connection between the factors of the deterioration and the status of the individual layers of the painting.
