This thesis presents the process of designing a test bench for the characterisation of a dynamic response of rotary machines. The process of numerical model construction, from individual structures to a coupled system, is presented. The ball bearings are simplified through a spatial stiffness matrix, which is the result of the mathematically formulated model of this machine element. The main focus was on implementation of the bearing matrix in the FEM model, in the ANSYS Workbench environment. For the purpose of validation, the experiments were conducted on parts of the structure using experimental modal analysis. Due to the complexity of the system, the various possibilities to improve FEM model were investigated. The improvements were oriented towards the identification of the material properties of the individual structural segments, as well as the research of different ways of modelling the coupled structures.
