Degree paper discusses catechesis at the World Youth Day. It treats the question, how does WYD influence the youth, how does it help them grow on a personal level and what does catechesis mean to a young person. At the beginning, the paper concentrates on what WYD even is, its basis, characteristics and history. Afterwards in concentrates on the basis of catechesis, its tasks, the role of catechist and the purpose of catechesis. After that, it talks about youth pastoral and evangelisation that happens, when the youth spread the message, that they heard, to the world. The paper also concentrates on pope Francis, on his typical language, and why is this language close to the youth. It also presents the preparation for the catechesis, what is essential for an announcer and how does catechesis enrich itself. After that, it concentrates on pope’s catecheses in Brazil and Poland. It shows essential emphases of individual speeches and their characteristics, how are they presented, how can they be compared and likewise. At the end, the impressions of the WYD participants are presented, what touched them and what will they remember the most.
