The key issues of the research were whether and to what extent art therapy can be supportive for adults to move to early old age and to what extent it can have positive effects on well-being of a healthy and active 65 or more years of age individual. The workshops that the survey was based on, were carried out at the center for elderly, in the period of fifteen hours, with a group of eight people. They were composed of art exercises that stimulated conversation with the group and encouraged thinking about themselves, their role in society, responses and emotion, self-image and possible obstacles that occurred with age. The preparation of workshops was made with help of research and findings from the field of gerontology, mainly from slovenian authors, as well as literature of Arts therapy with old people, which has been implemented in England, USA and Scandinavian countries since the middle of the last century. By comparing the feelings of the participants at the beginning and at the end of the workshops, with the help of the artwork that was created and the weekly records of the observations about each individual, we combined the selected information and found out what the advantages and disadvantages of the Arts therapy with the elderly are. We were wondering if Arts therapy when working with older people of the early period can be means of support for changes and difficulties that arise at the transition to a third life period.
