On the case of the Slovenske Konjice local unit possible forms of organization of private forest owners were recorded and analysed. We found out which type of organization would suit best the needs of improving forest management on the one hand and the light of the development of the wood industry on the other. We were interested in the willingness of forest owners to participate in the production and marketing of wood, the motive for connecting, which channels of information to use to bring the supply of timber to private forest owners on one side and the needs of woodwork on the other. Basic information about the private owners of forests in the area was obtained with the questionnaire, their management of forests and their willingness to connect. Guided interviews provided information on stakeholders who have a significant impact on forest management. We found that there is a difference among the owners in the willingness to participate in the production and marketing of timber according to the size of the forests. The willingness to cooperate is greater for those forest owners with common economic motives for integration. The owners of forests in the questionnaire pointed out that the best way of connecting is by the flow of information about the possibilities of forestry in carpentry activities. The links between forestry and carpentry activities were presented in the form of an information system that was presented as a business model using CIMO logic. Some interviewees doubted the claim.
