They are divided into three groups: closed/atrium design of the home with the atrium type of therapeutic garden, semi-open/semi-atrium design of the home with the compound type of the therapeutic garden, and open/point design of the home with the compound type of the therapeutic garden. Various, characteristic methods of optimization of the existing condition of open spaces of the retirement homes are presented within the framework of individual groups. The master’s thesis presents the qualitatively planned and designed optimization of the open space as a whole of taking account of the space with all the characteristics, good knowledge of the needs and demands of the user’s, and integration of the stakeholders into all the phases of the planning.
