Abstract
Kvalitetno načrtovano in oblikovano optimizacijo odprtega prostora predstavi kot skupek upoštevanja prostora z vsemi značilnostmi, dobrega poznavanja potreb in zahtev uporabnikov in vključevanja deležnikov v vse faze načrtovanja.

The practical part is intended for the review of the existing condition of the open spaces in the connection with the retirement homes and the selection of the essential types for the purpose of optimization. Eight essential types of optimization are presented. They are divided into three groups: closed/atrium design of the home with the atrium type of therapeutic garden, semi-open/semi-atrium design of the home with the compound type of the therapeutic garden, and open/point design of the home with the compound type of the therapeutic garden. Various, characteristic methods of optimization of the existing condition of open spaces of the retirement homes are presented within the framework of individual groups. The master’s thesis presents the qualitatively planned and designed optimization of the open space as a whole of taking account of the space with all the characteristics, good knowledge of the needs and demands of the user’s, and integration of the stakeholders into all the phases of the planning.
