The thesis deals with the problem of choosing between alternative investment proposals regarding their economic justification. The company we were working with had to face the same investment problem, when trying to replace their old assembly devices with a new reconfigurable robotic cell. By investing in such robotic cell, production volume would not change however, the costs of new projects would reduce since every new project the robot would be just reconfigured and buying new assembly devices would be unnecessary. We used important parameters, calculated by investment appraisal methods to justify the investment and we used multi attribute decision-making methods to choose the best variation of the project.
Among different variations of investment implementation, most suitable one was as expected alternative, which fulfils all expected requirements and is the cheapest. In our case, this was an investment in to reconfigurable robotic workcell with two robots.
