Magistrska naloga z naslovom Kontrastivna analiza besedil duhovno-ritmične glasbe v nemščini in italijanščini obravnava besedila duhovno-ritmične glasbe. This Master%s Thesis is entitled A contrastive Study of the Worship Song in German and Italian. It deals with modern worship songs which have roots in pop and rock music. Also, some other music styles, such as Jazz, Beat, Rock, Blues and Folk songs, are present. The worship songs contain several functions: 1) dealing with issues of peace, creation, equality, tolerance, 2) stimulating to act, and 3) expression of emotions. This is a combined Master Thesis combining both German and Italian languages. The subject of this analysis consists of the songs of the international music band Gen Rosso. The texts were originally written in Italian and later translated into German. My hypothesis was that texts in German and in Italian, respectively, differ mostly in grammar and semantics. They stem also from different cultural context. Within my analysis, following questions have been posed: what are the differences which exist between Italian and German texts? Is it foremost about grammar or semantic differences? Which factors have influence on that? Two models were used for analysis: a Heusinger model (1995) in the field of textual linguistics and a Wittbrodt model in the area of translation, with five types of lyrical translation (1995). Based on an analysis it was found that all lyrics contain possessive pronouns. As regards parataxis, both in lyrics of Ho tanta gioia as well as in Resurrezione, there is a common coordinating conjunction e (and). Regarding hypotaxis, relative subordinate clauses are typical in all texts. German lyrics contain also additional ones: allowing subordinate clause in Dio, tu sei l'Amore lyrics and an example of causal subordinate clause in a text of Resurrezione. There is also a cheering sentence in the chorus of the song of Dio, tu sei l'Amore. Stylistically, all lyrics contain repetitions (anaphor, parallelism). Phonetically, texts in both languages contain frequent cases of alliteration and assonance. Looking coherently, the structure is made by elements of isotopy and chorus that integrate the lyrics into a theme. Next, common text characteristics for all is to address God. The following morphological characteristics have been screened: modus, style (nominal, verbal), modality (first/second/third person), addressee/addresser and verb (static/dynamic). All Italian lyrics are characterised by indicative. However, three exceptions are present: Dio, tu sei l'Amore with an imperative, and a solo conditional in both A te vorrei dire and Non sono solo. Stylistically, Italian texts contain similar frequency of nouns and verbs. On the other side indicative is typical in German songs. There are two exceptions in both lyrics of A te vorrei dire and Resta qui con noi by the use of conditional. In German texts the number of nouns and vii verbs are virtually the same, lyrics of Du bist die Liebe and Ich bin nicht allein being different with a nominal style. Following categories were monitored: singular/plural, verbal mean, creator/speaker and addresee. Lyrics in both languages are mostly written in singular. Persons differ, mostly in the first and the third person of plural, the speaker in all lyrics is a lyrical subject and addressed God. Verbs are either static or dynamic. Static verbs are predicative, while dynamic ones are active and transitive. In all Italian and German texts verbs are mostly dynamic and active. As regards transfer of cultural elements among the texts, it was not detected.
