Over time, alternative technologies for metal forming have become increasingly used in
mechanical engineering. One of the most important is abrasive water jet cutting (AWJ). The introduction of new technologies has led to new problems, which have to be eliminated. Because of the abrasive properties of the water jet, comes during the operation of the AWJ to the accumulation wear of the nozzle, which leads to a change in diameter and cutting properties of the water jet.
To measure the diameter of the water jet, used for cutting, touchless method of measurement must be used. Because of a need for this method, we decided to use the laser micrometer.
We wanted our measurements to be accurate, so we researched, which effect has the laser
micrometer area on the results of measurement.
