In the master's thesis, various open-source programs for the production of the Digital Surface Model are examined and compared. The aim is to create a Digital Surface Model with the selected software packages and compare it to the model of the surface from the lidar data. With the help of comparative analysis we find out the difference in altitudes for meadows, forests and buildings, the data are then compared to the data of the building cadastre. The purpose of the task is to verify the ability of the algorithms for the creation of the Digital Surface Model and to create a high-resolution model with the selected software packages that would be suitable for comparison to lidar data. For the selected study area of the town of Slovenj Gradec, which is presented on 39 aerial photographs together with some of its surroundings, the course of the production of the digital surface model and the obtained results are presented in more detail. It has been found out that the selected software can not produce a high quality digital surface model. Comparisons of the heights of the building cadastre, the Lidar Digital Surface Model and the already created Digital Surface Model have shown that the heights are comparable, and it is possible to determine the cause of all deviations, which is in most cases a change in the surface coverage. On the basis of such comparisons it is possible to determine the coverage of areas and changes in the coverage at different time periods.
