Introduction: Pregnancy is a stressful period for female body in which many anatomical and physiological changes occur. Organic systems are extremely dynamic and allow different responses to the environment, however, changes that can occur in the body of the pregnant woman must be watched, because they may require treatment. In the field of the cardiovascular system, certain noise or occasional heart rhythm disturbances are most commonly occurring, for example, sinus tachycardia, bradycardia and ectopic pulse, and other disorders. The role of the nurse in these situations is very important, as she must be able to recognize the deviations from the physiological course of normal pregnancy, the condition of the pregnant woman must be continuously monitored and shem ust preform activities that contribute to maintaining the health of the pregnant woman. Purpose: The purpose of the this work is to present the disorders of the heart rhythm in pregnancy, the methods of treatment and the role of the nurse in treating a pregnant woman with a rhythm disorder in an emergency internist clinic. Methods: In this work we used a descriptive method with a systematic review and analysis of English and Slovenian scientific and professional literature. We examined the accessible literature of the discussed problem and the metasynthesis of scientific studies. When searching for literature, we focused on the COBISS web portal and the various others, for example COBIB.si, Cochrane, Cinahl database with full text, Medline, Medline plus, Wiley and NIH (National Institutes of Health). The literature search took place from January 2017 to the end of January 2018. Discussion and conclusion: In pregnancy, heart rhythm disorders are common and treatment is often necessary. Nurse is the first person in contact with the pregnant woman on arrival at the emergency room of an internist clinic. Her important task is to determine the degree of urgency and to classify the pregnant woman in the order of treatment. In Slovenia, we are using the Manchester Triage, by which pregnant woman is included in the triage group. As well as, the role of the nurse is the preparation of Adenosine and the monitoring of patient response after receiving it. It is essential for a nurse to recognize a leap in the sinus rhythm. Due to the different feelings and responses to situation, it is important that the nurse prepares the pregnant woman physically and psychologically. The role of a nurse is very important in the whole procedure. It is a highly responsible work that requires a lot of knowledge.
