In this thesis, I analyzed the comical elements in the latest comedies written by Tone Partljič, more specifically in Krivica boli, Silvesterska sprava 2000, Čaj za dve, Denis in Ditka and Slikar na vasi. Based on Henri Bergson's Essay on the meaning of comic, I divided the comical elements into character comedy, situation comedy and word play, and added physical comedy defined by Vladimir Kralj. I have come to the conclusion that Partljič builds his comicalness in like manner. The base of all comedies is the character comedy. Therefore, each comedy presents at least one, or several, characters marked by their comical nature. Some examples of this are: a senior expert on Slovenian language, a southern hot-tempered lover, a meeting between two seniors marked by history, a confident and naïve young man, a contact between a town lady and a simple farm girl, naïve villagers and a person pretending to be somebody else. This is what then affects the situation comedy, as well as the word play. The former is usually portrayed by characters that appear at the wrong place at the wrong time, by using inversion, escalation, repeating events and singing. Examples of word play, that also reflect the human character, are the use of dialects, vulgar expressions, swear words, literal understanding of metaphors and the use of learned expressions by uneducated people.
