This paper presents different theoretical approaches for fairytale interpretation. Fairytale is defined as a genre with the connection to other folklore narrative forms. There are many parallels between fairytale, mythology and rituals. Fairytales are a significant part of every culture and contain a lot of information about the world in which it originated and evolved, they are indicative of a particular culture, time, as well as more general features of human character. The Czech fairytales and its specific features are discussed in this paper. The paper specifically underlines eight methodological approaches to fairy-tale interpretation, such as folkloristic, structuralism, poststructuralist, literary, psychoanalytical, sociological, feminist and neo-Darwinian approaches to fairy-tale.
