Abstract

Abstract:
The thesis focuses on outlining the life of Ana Lušin and her rare literary publications - her short stories. From literary history's point of view, Lušin is mostly interesting due to being Cankar's great love (his "muse"). She had great influence on Cankar's literary works: he dedicated to her poems from his collection Eroticism, was in the process of creating an album of poems dedicated entirely to her and used her as a model for the role of Ana in Jakob Ruda and Strangers. An extensive letter correspondence developed between Cankar and Lušin and a portion of those letters can be considered as some of the most beautiful declarations of love in Slovene literary life. Ana was a teacher in Plešivec near Velenje and drew inspiration for her short stories from her surroundings. The thesis is based on the material gathered by jurist and collector Marjan Marinšek. Ana's short story To Die on Christmas Eve was entrusted to Marinšek by Anka Komovec, the daughter of Ana's husband Hinko Bregant.
