Abstract
Rokopisi so v knjižni obliki izšli leta 2006.

Title:God searching in prison poetry of Vitomil Zupan
Abstract:
In our thesis, we compared Pesmi iz zapora (1948-1954) (The Poems from Prison (1948-1954)) by Vitomil Zupan and Psalm 22 with the intention of proving Vitomil Zupan’s implicit seeking of God. Pesmi iz zapora (1948-1954) is a literary work consisting of approximately 61,000 verses divided into 25 complete collections of poems. They were being written in the period from 1948 to 1954 during the author’s imprisonment in communist prisons. Manuscripts were published in the form of a book in 2006. As there are too many poems that can be compared to Psalm 22, we singled out certain poems from Četrte knjige Pesmi iz zapora (1948-1954) (The Fourth Book of Poems from Prison (1948-1954)) for the analysis. The comparison was made on the following three levels of seeking God: Seeking God through suffering, namely suffering in the meaning of purification and strength, suffering as a path to love another human being and suffering as mystique. In the concluding part of the thesis’s main body we described love that overcame suffering and implied the way to God. Our conviction is based on the fact that Zupan tried to make sense of his suffering – which was the consequence of his unjust prison sentence – through writing poetry, and thus was approaching God in his own, implicit way. The analysis revealed a great deal of coincidence between the selected poems from prison and Psalm 22. Therefore, a conclusion can be drawn that Vitomil Zupan was seeking God in an implicit way in his prison poetry, among other things.
