Abstract

Abstract:
The aim of this master thesis was to study the differences and the similarities in the reception of a sound book and of a traditional book by readers of different degrees of experience. The reception of a contemporary fairy tale novel Óštrigéca by Marjan Tomšič was analysed based on the results of an empirical study, which was guided by the following questions: What is the attitude of young intellectuals towards sound books? What is their experience of listening to sound books? What differences in emotional and motivational factors are entailed by the action of reading a book vs. listening to a book? How does the understanding of surface and deep meanings of the novel vary in the two studied groups? Are there any differences in the interpretations of blanks/ pauses in the text? I was also trying to find out whether differences between the more experienced and the less experienced readers are shown in the reception of the sound and in the attitudes towards the listening experiences.
