This Master's thesis deals with the linguistic and economic integration of adult immigrants in the regions of Dolenjska, Bela Krajina, and Posavje. The theoretical part of the thesis presents the immigration trends and the immigrant employment statistics in said regions. It discusses the importance of education in the process of integration and the possibilities for learning the Slovene language. The empirical part talks about the supply and organization of different types of Slovene as a second language courses within particular institutions. Based on the statements of various course attendees, the thesis strives to establish the importance of courses for integration into Slovenian society. Based on the statements of various employers, the thesis also presents the immigrant employment conditions in two different companies in Novo mesto, while establishing the importance of language proficiency for work performance.
