Abstract
Omogoča kakovostno življenje in zadovoljstvo vsakega človeka. V bolnišnici morajo zdravstveni delavci slediti standardom ustne nege in zagotavljati optimalno ustno nego bolnim otrokom.

Title:
Care of oral cavity by child : literature review
Abstract:
Introduction: A healthy oral cavity is of big importance for us humans, not only for aesthetics reasons, it is also of extreme significance for our health in general. It enables every person to lead a satisfying, qualitative life. Oral cavity care needs to start early in the first years of life, so the key role here is played by parents and health workers. Purpose: The purpose of diploma thesis is an introduction of a review of professional and scientific literature on importance of oral cavity care in children and the role of parents and health workers in it. Methods: In diploma thesis we have used a descriptive work method with systematic overview of professional and scientific literature. The selected literature was searched in the databases CINAHL with Full Text, Medline and Academic Search Complete. We used articles within the time frame 2006-2007. We used a total of 41 articles. Discussion and conclusion: Overview of literature showed that early oral cavity care brings the child's systematic health and reduces risk for chronical illnesses. Since children take their parents or caretakers as their key role models, they play an enormous role in enabling qualitative heath care. Nurses have to take care that parents are informed enough, therefore there need to be held more health care education programmes. Health workers in hospitals also need to follow high standard oral care and enable optimal oral care for children.
