Abstract
Ugotovitve raziskave so prikazane v grafih.

Title:
Movement activities of parents and their preschool children
Abstract:
This diploma thesis displays the importance of movement activities; particularly how significant they are in childhood. The emphasis is on the period between the third and the sixth year. The motor development of children and the stages of its development is also presented. Motor skills responsible for the performance of all body movement are described. Also presented is the physical development of children. We also focused on the influence of a children’s families in sports. A general definition of a family is presented, along with its functions and their purpose. The diploma thesis also examines how children engage in sports, how important it is for them to participate, and also the importance of them participating together with their parents. This diploma thesis is of the research kind. Throughout the research, we tested the hypotheses that were raised before the creation of the thesis. The research was done through an anonymous questionnaire that was filled out by parents of children aged 3 - 6. The purpose of the research was to find out how the physical activity of parents influences the activity of preschool children. The findings are shown in graphs. Each graph represents one question so that the research findings are clearly visible. Through graphs and their interpretation, we also either confirmed or refuted the hypotheses. We discovered that parents who were involved in professional or competitive sports are more frequently physically active with their children than the ones that do not have any experience in sports. We found out that parents who enrol their children into afternoon sports practices spend less time with their children than parents that are more frequently physically active with their children and do not have them enrolled in afternoon practices. Parents who dedicate more time to be physically active are more active with their children. We also discovered that mothers are more active with their children than fathers, because they are active with them several times per week and also in longer periods of time.
