Abstract
Človeški patogeni so v gnojilih iz biogenih odpadkov prisotni v zelo velikem številu. Čeprav so biogene snovi izredno koristne za izboljšanje kakovosti kmetijskih tal, pa predstavljajo tudi tveganje zaradi velike vsebnosti človeku nevarnih mikroorganizmov, ki se lahko prenašajo v prehranjevalno verigo in posledično povzročijo okužbe. Sodeč po izbruhih v preteklosti in številnih raziskavah je prenos patogenov mogoč skozi celotno kmetijsko pridelavo, vendar mora pri tem sodelovati veliko število dejavnikov, ki blagodejno vplivajo na njihovo preživetje. Glavni vir patogenov na kmetijskih zemljiščih so živinska gnojila, zato so v nalogi podrobneje obravnavani. Patogeni naseljujejo prebavila rejnih živali, posledično so prisotni v njihovem blatu (hlevskem gnoju, gnojevki). Ugotovljeno je bilo, da je prenos odvisen predvsem od količine in gostote prisotnih človeških patogenov v izločkih, načina skladiščenja, načina nanosa gnojil, dovzetnosti rastline za okužbo oziroma njenega obrambnega sistema ter številnih okoljskih dejavnikov. Z izboljšanjem teh postopkov, uporabo pravih materialov in upoštevanjem navodil strokovnjakov lahko občutno vplivamo na zmanjšanje števila patogenov ter zmanjšanje tveganja njihovega prenosa v prehranjevalno verigo. Ugodni pogoji za življenje patogenov pa lahko povzročijo tudi povečanje njihovega števila v tleh in še večjo možnost tveganja prenosa v rastlino. Patogeni niso problematični samo zaradi prenosa v rastline, ampak tudi zaradi onesnaževanja zraka, površinskih voda in podtalnice, kjer lahko spet pridejo v stik s človekom.

Title:Human pathogens in fertilizers from biowaste and their potential risk of transmission into food chain
Abstract:
Human pathogens are present in fertilizers from biowaste in vast numbers. Although biowaste is very beneficial for improvement of agricultural land, it's application may cause unintended negative consequences. The presence of dangerous pathogenic microorganisms makes biowaste a potential hazardous source of human food chain contamination. Outbrakes and research in the past have shown, that if the conditions are advantageous for growth, transfer of pathogens can occur at any time during food production. The main source of human pathogens are farm animals, as their digestive system provides advantageous conditions for growth and proliferation. In this work, special attention was given to animal manure, farmyard manure and slurry, since pathogens are a part of excreta of farm animals. It has previously been shown, that transfer of pathogens depends on: quantity and density of pathogens in excreta, manure storage, type of fertilizer application, susceptibility of plants for pathogen uptake, and various environmental conditions. By following good practices, significant reduction of pathogen quantity can be achieved and risk of transfer to human food chain minimalized. However, advantageous conditions for pathogen growth can cause their proliferation in soil, even if guidelines are followed. Furthermore, uptake of pathogens by plants is not the only concern for human health. Contamination of air, surface water and groundwater can present serious challenges and threats to human well-being as well.
