Abstract
Hrana in prehranjevanje nas povezuje z družbenim življenjem.

Title:The influence of peers on food choices of secondary school children
Abstract:
Food and nutrition links us with social life. A balanced diet is particularly important during adolescence. Eating habits are largely dependent on society that surrounds us and represents established patterns or ways of eating of an individual, a group or a society. Nutrition is influenced by congenital and biological factors of the environment. Peers have a significant impact on the nutrition of adolescents because the opinion of peers is more important in the period of adolescence, but the opinion of parents is less important. Nutrition is, among others, also influenced by sensory properties of food, individual preferences, norms, values and culture. The media such as television, magazines, advertisements also have a considerable influence on the diet. They constantly show us, how should a perfect body look like. The media arouse unpleasant feelings especially in women, which impacts on low self-esteem and testing of various diets. Young people assocate food with their outer appearance which greatly affects their self-esteem. Poor self-esteem of adolescents causes eating disorders.
