Abstract
Jungovska persona spolnih delavk_cev? 2. Če obstaja, kakšen je delovni socialni obraz v primerjavi z njihovim jazom izven spolnega dela? 3. Kako vizualno interpretirati socialni obraz skozi oblikovanje in fotografijo? Skozi intervjuje sem želel izvedeti, če se njihovo obnašanje spremeni, ko so v stiku s strankami, komparirano z njihovo vsakdanjo identiteto. V teoretičnemu delu naloge bom povezal idejo delovnega socialnega obraza spolnih delavk_cev z Jungovo teorijo persone, Južničevo teorijo identitete, Bergerjevo teorijo načinov gledanja in z osnovnim principom same moči maske v trenutku, ko si jo nekdo nadene. Vsako masko sem preizkusil kot nosilec in jo zatem skupaj s ponotranjeno izkušnjo osebnega stika z intervjuvanimi osebami, interpretiral skozi lastno golo telo, telesno identifikacijo in komponente fotografij. Končni rezultat so predvsem neprecenjivi vpogledi v življenja sicer marginalizirane skupine ljudi v naši družbi in možnost, da brez predsodkov slišimo njihov necenzuriran glas.

Title:Social face of sex workers through words, design and photography
Abstract:
The aim of my thesis is the analysis (with an emphasis on the interpretation) of a social face of sex workers through words, design and photography. In the beginning I asked myself the research questions: 1. Is there a working social face (Jung’s persona) of sex workers? 2. If there is one, how does their working social face look compared to their identities outside sex work? 3. How to visually interpret a social face through design and photography? To get answers to the first two questions, I did a series of interviews with privileged sex workers as the base of the thesis. Through the interviews I wanted to find out if they change their behaviour when they are with their customers compared to everyday identity. In the theoretical part I connect the starting thought with Jung’s theory of persona, Južnič’s theory of identity, Berger’s Ways of seeing and basic principals of a mask’s power in the moment when a person puts it on. With the mentioned theory in mind I did the analysis of the interviews and found out that all of the interviewed people are using more or less distinct working social faces with a diverse dimensions of change. The working persona of a sex worker becomes an activating tool of change, e.g. an activator of a defence mechanism while dealing with customers. The described changes are the ingredients that I materialise in a series of masks that are a visual translation of the identities of people while doing sex work. The diverse approaches towards sex work result in diverse techniques, materials and forms. The next step of the interpretation is a series of photographs. When creating the photography series my starting assumption was that all sex workers are to a certain extend naked and to a certain extend anonymous when they work and that was the reason to decide for a specific kind of self-portrait – nude self-portrait. Every mask I try out as a wearer, join that with my own personal experience with the interviewed people and interpret that through my own body, body identification and all the components of the photos. The final results are especially the priceless insights into the lives of a marginalised group of people in our society and a chance to hear their voices without any censorship or prejudices.
