The diploma thesis titled Visual Identity of the Club Marathon deals with the yearly musical challenge of Radio Student, called Club Marathon. Visual identity is the visual expression of the image of the organization. The process of developing a high-quality visual identity is quite a complex and comprehensive process which takes place in several steps. For a successful completion of this project, we need to know the organization, its history, and its future intentions. To create a good visual identity, we need to know the art theory and current trends in graphic design.
In addition to the visual identity of the Club Marathon, we focus primarily on the series of posters. A poster is printed media in a large format, which serves as decoration or as an advertising tool. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and the practical part. The first part explores the formation of the process of visual identity, basic art elements, compositions and trends in graphic design. In the practical part, we explore the Club Marathon and its history. We analyze five posters of the past events. Using the acquired knowledge, we introduce the manufacturing process of the visual identity, which we use certain software and hardware for. As the result, a series of five posters emerges. We analyze all the five posters, which are totally different but they are connected in one poster. Furthermore, we design advertising material which Radio Student used for many years.
