Abstract

Title:The analysis of perception of the role of alpine skiing male and female coaches
Abstract:
The aim of this diploma paper was to find the differences in cognition of the roles of Alpine skiing male and female coaches. We were interested in finding out whether children and their parents differ between a male and female coach. With the help of different questionaires we interviewed 19 male and female Alpine skiing coaches, 29 children aged between 7 and 12, and 52 parents. The data was gathered in 1KA online application and processed by Microsoft Excel programme. We calculated the frequencies of the frequencies of the answers and made graphs of the gained answers. The research has shown that young children notice the difference in the training process led by a male or female coach. The difference is also noticed by their parents. The interviewed children from the sample group belonged to the youngest age group, therefore the results were not surprising – they are keen on having a female coach, whereas older age groups and their parents prefer male coaches. Namely, the children and their parents believe that women are better in communication, solving conflicts within the team and can be more understanding towards younger children. On the other hand, men are related to competition, winning, authority, order and discipline. In 86 % female coaches feel they are treated differently than their male colleagues, but in 71 % they do not believe that their work has got less quality because of gender.
