Abstract
To ga postavlja pred vedno nove izzive.

Title:Views of elementary school science teachers on electronic and interactive textbooks
Abstract:
Nowadays information literacy is a key factor of development and progress of society. It is hard to imagine life without ICT. The use of ICT is a basis for our activity in society. Today, the Internet plays a major role and it has a great social influence, its major role being information exchange. It is almost impossible to imagine lessons in educational institutions, including elementary schools, without ICT. The use of ICT, combined with other methods of work, is suggested also in curriculums. The role of teachers is changing due to the development in technology. Thus teachers constantly face new challenges. The supply of services and thus the possibility of using Internet resources during lessons grow. This master thesis mainly focuses on the question which services provided by the Internet are most frequently used by Slovenian teachers of biology, chemistry, physics and science, what is their opinion on their use in classrooms and whether the teachers are keen on e- and i-textbooks. A descriptive and causal-non-experimental method of empiric pedagogical research was used. Our research included 128 elementary school teachers of natural sciences from different Slovenian regions. They answered various questions in a questionnaire. The results show that Slovenian teachers mainly use Internet services to access films and contents from Wikipedia and YouTube, they mainly use e-mail to contact their pupils, whereas blogs, forums and social networks are used less frequently. The teachers see the advantages of social networks mainly in quick communication and access to information and disadvantages in the fact that there is no personal contact when using them. The results also show that teachers mainly use traditional printed textbooks and their own resources. As regards homework teachers mostly recommend the interactive textbook at SIO web site. The number of teachers recommending the e-textbooks belonging to a workbook with an activation code is relatively low, a little less than half of them recommend it for biology. Added value to e-textbooks most frequently used by teachers depends on the subjects as well as on their characteristics. The findings show that more than half of the teachers are keen on e- and i-textbooks, 1/3 can not opt for or against, only 1/10 are not keen on e- and i-textbooks.
