Abstract
Tujerodne invazivne vrste so problematične za domačo floro in ekosisteme, ker zmanjšujejo biodiverziteto in povzročajo škodo. Ena izmed najbolj invazivnih vrst v Sloveniji je japonski dresnik (Fallopia japonica), ki naj bi s hitrim nespolnim razmnoževanjem in alelopatskim delovanjem vplival na rast in razvoj domorodnih vrst. Z raziskavo smo želeli ugotoviti, ali imata listni izvleček in izvleček korenik japonskega dresnika alelopatski učinek na rast in celične delitve v koreninah navadne čebule (Allium cepa) ter ali ima kateri od njiju večji zaviralni učinek. V ta namen so čebule 2 dni rasle v 5 % vodnih izvlečkih, ki smo jih pripravili iz posušenih listov in korenik japonskega dresnika. Po končanem poskusu smo prešteli in izmerili korenine čebul ter iz koreninskih vršičkov pripravili mečkane preparate, ki smo jih nato pregledali pod mikroskopom. Ugotovili smo, da sta oba izvlečka povzročila zmanjšanje števila in dolžine korenin ter tudi zmanjšala mitotski indeks. Razlike v učinkih med izvlečkoma niso bile velike, le na število korenin je imel listni izvleček večji učinek, medtem ko je imel izvleček korenik pri tem podoben učinek kot voda, ki smo jo uporabili za kontrolo.

Title:The effect of leaf and rhizome extracts of japanese knotweed on cell division in onion
Abstract:
Invasive alien species affect native flora and ecosystems by reducing biodiversitiy and causing economic loss. One of the most invasive species in Slovenia is Japanese knotweed (Fallopia japonica), which has an impact on growth and development of native plant species by fast vegetative reproduction and allelopathic interactions. With this study we aimed to determine whether leaf and rhizome extract of the Japanese knotweed have an allelopathic effect on the growth and cell division of roots of onion (Allium cepa) and which of them has greater inhibitory effect. For this purpose, we grew onions for 2 days in 5% aqueous extracts of dried leaves and rhizomes of Japanese knotweed. After the experiment was completed, we counted and measured onion roots and prepared squeezed preparations of root tips, which were examined under a microscope. We found that both extracts caused a significant decrease in the number and length of the roots; they also reduced mitotic index. The differences in effects between extracts were not significant, only on the number of roots had a leaf extract bigger inhibitory effect, while the rhizome extract had a similar effect like water which was used as control.
