Graduate thesis i will present was made in a frame of a project, which was carried out by company named INEA, the project goals were to ensure integrity and connectivity of company's system on cruise ship.
INEA is involved in programming of industrial equipment on passenger ships, more specifically they are in charge of ventilation systems (HVAC), and for reading and displaying the measurements of various data.
The aim of the thesis is the collection of data of the whole system on the server, the need for data collection is derived from the client's wishes for having a compact supervision. The data are collected and processed by Siemens PLC's, various communication protocols are used across the networks of the whole system. Those communication protocols are: PROFIBUS, MODBUS TCP, MODBUS RTU and Ethernet. In the last phase, some of the devices are connected to the server, on which, there are two connected virtual machines, one of those is OPC server, and the second one is SCADA system.
