Abstract
Oblikovalski proces obsega preizkušanje različnih materialov in tehnologij z zavestjo izvora pletene strukture in njene transformacije. Teoretični del naloge obsega teme okraševanja telesa, namen nakita v preteklosti in danes ter pomen tradicionalnih tekstilnih tehnik in tekstilnega ročnega dela v današnjem času. Poseben poudarek teoretičnega dela je namenjen vlogi vizualnega in čutnega spomina v procesu oblikovanja. Praktični del naloge predstavi proces preizkušanja različnih tehnik oblikovanja tekstilne forme, od ročnega prepletanja tekstilnih in netekstilnih materialov do oblikovanja s pomočjo računalniškega modelirnega programa in 3D tiska.

Title:Memory inspired knitted jewellery
Abstract:
The presented thesis researches contemporary and traditional forms of decorating the human body and presents a collection of jewellery designed as a symbolic interlacing of past memories. The collection is inspired by the technique of knitting and its repeating element – the loop. The design process researched the effect of various materials and making technologies on the knitted structure. The objective was to research its potential transformation and possible use in the design of textile jewellery. A theoretical chapter of the thesis outlines the following topics: the decoration of the human body, the past and present role of jewellery, traditional textile knitting techniques and their importance today. A separate subchapter explains the role of visual and sensual memory in the design process. An experimental chapter of the thesis presents various techniques of prototyping, visualisation of past memories and the final collection. The formal expression of the prototypes is tested by the manual knitting of textile and non-textile, as well as by the use of computational design and making tools, such as the 3D printer. Memories, visualized in collages, are the inspiration for the jewellery collection that expresses the importance of women in design and the importance of preservation of heritage.
