Abstract

Title:Temperature data logger for cooling systems
Abstract:
In the production and distribution of food, the temperature is one of the most important factors besides hygiene. Storing food in improper temperatures can accelerate the development of microorganisms and this can cause the food to be poor quality or even harmful. In order to improve the quality, the producers and distributers are obliged to obey systematic preventive approach using HACCP standards. However, temperature monitoring at predetermined intervals is recommended. The purpose of the thesis is to create an electronic temperature monitoring system of cooling systems in accordance with in HACCP standards. The electronic module will perform automatic recording of the cooling systems temperature also during the time when personnel is not present on work or in case of a power failure. The key part of the task is to develop an electronic module based on the principles of good engineering practice and to make certification of electromagnetic compatibility at independent and impartial institution. The system was divided into three parts, where the first part contains a local server for communication with the online system, the second part is an electronic module that records in five minute intervals the temperature and status of the door of cooling system. The third part is an online system that analyzes the received data and detects if the food in the cooling system is within the limits prescribed by the HACCP standard. All deviations are shown to the user as an error message. The user can also graphically monitor the entire measured time interval data. The module is compliant with European directives and electromagnetically compatible.
