Primerjava izdelave tipografskih učinkov s profesionalnim in odprtokodnim urejevalnikom slik

V diplomskem delu sem se odločila predstaviti postopke izdelave tipografskih učinkov s profesionalnim urejevalnikom slik Adobe Photoshop in z odprtokodnim programom Gimp. Izdelava tipografskih učinkov zahteva veliko mero kreativnosti, domišljije in potrpežljivosti pri izdelavi, predvsem pa dobro poznavanje določenega grafičnega orodja. V uvodnem delu sem se dotaknila teme tipografije, opisala sem njihovo delitev in predstavila različne sloge poudarjanja oziroma učinkov, ki jih dnevno srečujemo v tiskanih in digitalnih medijih. V obeh programskih orodjih sem izdelala po dva tipografska učinka. Izdelala sem primerjave uporabe podobnih funkcionalnosti obeh programskih orodij ter jih za lažjo primerjavo predstavila v tabelarični obliki. Za vsak posamezni izdelek sem predstavila postopek izdelave z vsemi uporabljenimi orodji in navedenimi parametri v obeh programih. Moj namen in hkrati največji izziv je bil ustvariti čim bolj podoben končni izdelek z obema orodjema, ter pri tem narediti primerjavo uporabe profesionalnega urejevalnika slik ter brezplačnega orodja namenjenega domači uporabi.

• Title: Production of typographic effects using professional and open-source image editor

Abstract

My diploma thesis presents a comparison of production of typographic effects using two image editing programs, a professional-level software Adobe Photoshop and open-source tool Gimp. Creation of typographic effects requires a lot of creativity, imagination and patience, as well as good knowledge of the software tools. In the introduction I reviewed the field of typography, described the taxonomy of typographic fonts and presented various styles and effects which we often encounter in printed and digital media. I have created two typographical effects using both software tools and compared functionalities and ease of use of all tools I have been using during the process. I have prepared detailed tabelaric overview of the process with description of the tools and their parameters. My greatest challenge was to produce typographic effects as similar as possible using both tools, and in this way compare capabilities and ease of use of professional and free image editing softwares.
