The diploma thesis focuses on the issue of over-caring and loving parents who take responsibility for duties and obligations which should be in full domain of their child. A deep-rooted problem of modern times reflects in an ever-increasing number of parents who apply well-intentioned approaches for their child, not being aware they can be detrimental in the end. Parents opt for these approaches in good faith and due to various reasons, but normally these approaches result from erroneous assumptions about permissive upbringing. Family relationships are limited to the form of parental »service«, where a child does not need to contribute to the family community. Moreover, such parents are heavily involved in the child's school work and obligations. In addition to this, the child does not develop the essential competences to live on his or her own which negatively affects the quality of life, even when he or she is already all grown-up. In my diploma thesis, I focus on an expert's approach to parents and his professional contribution in the process of helping parents to return back responsibilities to the child. The empirical part of the diploma thesis presents an interview with a professional worker, who is an educator in one of the youth care centres. Based on qualitative research methods and a semi-structured interview, I gained an insight into specific approaches and methods that are welcomed by professionals in the process of assisting and working with parents. The results show that contribution and assistance of experts are crucial in order to achieve the goals that parents set in the very beginning.
