Abstract

Title:Recycling plastic bottles in a creative way
Abstract:
Beside other plastic products, plastic bottles represent a true environmental disaster in the last few years. We assume that hardly anyone asks what happens after they drink that last drop of water out of it. Just like most municipal waste, a plastic bottle can be reused, recycled, burned or deposited into landfill. When the Environment Protection Act is not respected, plastic bottle ends up in the nature, very often in the sea, where it decomposes very slowly and has negative influence on the whole ecosystem. In the diploma thesis the focus is not only on the plastic bottle as waste but on its whole life cycle in the reverse order; from waste to production. Waste can also be a source of raw material and at least partial solution to the waste overload of the planet. A new plastic bottle, clothing, piece of art or even a house can be made from plastic bottles. It is also very convenient as material in schools for creative projects. We can educate young people on sustainable development by using waste for various purposes. Only theoretical education on sustainable development is not enough to raise a new generation of consumers that will care not only for the product but also for quality used waste. Theoretical knowledge must be put in practice.
