In Slovenia, regular elementary school programmes integrate children with special needs. Within the scope of a regular education programme, such children receive professional and teaching assistance with adjustments.
It is not known whether parents and children are pleased with the existing educational system and implementation of educational process, which is why we inquired about their opinions and current experiences as well as their proposals for improving the system.
Based on a research study, the diploma thesis presents the satisfaction of parents and children regarding the implementation of additional professional and educational assistance, the implementation of adjustments, problems that they have noticed and any improvements to ensure suitable personalised adjustments. The qualitative textual analysis of the parents and children’s opinions was performed using interviews with parents and children with special needs who are included in a regular educational programme.
Research results have shown that parents are generally satisfied with additional professional and educational assistance, but that problems do occur in the interpretation and implementation of adjustments; children, however, are generally more satisfied with secondary education than primary.
