Through an analytical approach, this specialisation thesis addresses the issue of controlling the functioning of presses in the production process of sheet metal forming. In the stage of planning, standards of control process and production management were used, as well as procedures of project automatization. The planning was based on the process model of strategic management allowing a horizontal and vertical management as well as diversification of strategic investments such as the control systems. The control system was tested in the real production environment on the basis of which the quality results were collected, analyzed and shown. The quality results are given for the internal production process and for the original manufacturer of equipment. The solution is supported with a technical economic analysis justifying the financial investment both in technical and economic point of view. Cost and benefit estimates and profitability estimation of the investment are presented. Using the SWOT analysis, the strategy was made including opportunities and risks relating to the implementation of the control system. Besides, the importance of control systems for the production processes and companies in future is described. The future of control systems is connected with the industry guidelines 4.0, enabling in future a bigger autonomy of production processes and implementation of innovative solutions in this area.
