Abstract
Predstavljeni so različni pristopi k proučevanju pravljice (modeli raziskovanja ljudske pravljice po posameznih avtorjih): sociološki (Jack Zipes), psihoanalitični (Marie-Louise Von Franz), feministični (Clarissa Pinkola Estés), literarni (Max Lüthi), poststrukturalistični (Maria Nikolajeva), folkloristični (Antti Aaarne, Stith Thompson in Hans-Jörg Uther) ter strukturalistični pristop (Vladimir Propp). Modičeve pravljice so bile prvič objavljene in analizirane v tem magistrskem delu. Raziskano in predstavljeno je bilo njegovo življenje in delo. Pravljice so bile analizirane in razčlenjene na osnovi Proppovega dela, v katerem je predstavil ritualistično razlago ljudskih pravljic. Vsem pripovedim so bile določene mednarodne tipne številke po ATU-indeksu Hansa-Jörga Utherja (The Types of International Folktales, 2004).

Title:The analysis of folktales from Notranjska region collected by Izidor Modic taken from Štrekelj's legacy
Abstract:
The theoretical part includes definitions, classifications and a brief historic outline of the folktales research in Slovenia and abroad. It also features a summary of the story telling and writing in the Slovene area as well as the meaning of the folktales for children. Furthermore, various approaches to the studying of folktales are presented (models of folktale research by various authors): the sociological (Jack Zipes), psychoanalytical (Marie-Louise Von Franz), feministic (Clarissa Pinkola Estés), literary (Max Lüthi), post-structuralistic (Maria Nikolajeva), folklore (Antti Aaarne, Stith Thompson and Hans-Jörg Uther) and structuralistic approach (Vladimir Propp). The comparative analysis was carried out on the basis of sixteen folktales of the Notranjska Region written by Izidor Modic that are part of the Karel Štrekelj’s heritage (1859–1912). His life and work is described here as well. The folktales by Modic were first published and analysed in this post-graduate thesis. Izidor Modic (1884–1915) collected and wrote 16 works in his home town (in the area of Cerkno), mostly magical tales. His life and work has been researched and presented. The folktales are analysed on the basis of the Propp's work featuring the ritualistic explanation of folktales. All tales were given their international type numbers according to the ATU index by Hans-Jörg Uther (The Types of International Folktales, 2004). A comparison with the fairy-tales by the Brothers Grimm of the same tale type has also been made. Moreover, a comparative analysis was carried out on the Modic's manuscript selection on the basis of the work Pravljica in stvarnost (1995) by Monika Kropej. The folktales were analysed also according to the literal approach by Max Lüthi (The European Folktale: Form and Nature, 2011). The second – empirical part of the thesis includes a selection of three folktales by Modic with different contents that were partly adapted and illustrated for expert work with children in the pre-school period. In form of a half-structured interview and observations, the findings on the way a group of children of the approx. age of four experiences and perceives the selection of folktales from the Modic's manuscript collection were summarised.
