Abstract

Title:AUTOMATON FOR CALIBRATION AND TESTING OF GENERIC MEASUREMENT INSTRUMENTS
Abstract:
The aim of this master’s thesis is to present the automation of generic measurement instruments calibration and testing. The thesis demonstrates the types of generic measurement instruments that are used in our company as well as their structure within the scope of the company’s information system. The thesis first illustrates the needs and goals, which had been set before we started the automaton development, and then provides an overview of the automaton’s key components, which are customized for generic measurement instruments calibration and testing, followed by a demonstration of their role in the calibration/testing process. The thesis also presents the automaton’s software that includes the obtaining of data through the company’s information system as well as data processing and transfer to the local database to be used in the calibration/testing process. Furthermore, the thesis illustrates multithreading of the software’s calibration and testing steps that accelerates the entire automation process. Then, the application for the test report generation and automaton statistics tracking (e.g. the automaton usage, error tracking during the calibration/testing process) is presented. In addition, the thesis provides a presentation of some of the key C# programming language tools (interface, threading, delegates, inheritance), which made the calibration and testing software execution faster and more transparent. Finally, the thesis presents the achieved goals and refers to the use of automaton and its software in other areas within the company.
