Abstract

Title:
Planning of mobile in-building systems
Abstract:
All mobiles users are experiencing issues with access to mobile services on a daily basis and most these happen while we are indoors. In my finally thesis i have focused on importance of delivering high quality mobile services to end users in different indoor environments. In the introduction part i am presenting the global traffic forecast for the next 4 years which is rapidly increasing. The fact that most of the traffic is generated indoors is the trigger for analyzing the future radio network design where in-building systems and small cells will have a key role while trying to serve end users demands. In the main part I have covered different radio network technologies and their specifics on the radio interface. I have also described the handover procedures since they have a huge impact on end user experience. As practical example I have focused on in-building system design for basketball arena in Stožice. Designing of an in-building system for sport arenas and stadiums is one of the most difficult projects since it is basically impossible to predict user behavior and traffic demand. I have presented the main difference between designing a passive or active distributed antenna system. Additionally I have listed investor’s technical requirements and verification process. The goal of every in-building system design is to fulfill given requirements as well to allow future upgrades and implementation of new technologies. Some of them are listed in the conclusion.
