Evolution by natural selection is a fundamental feature of the living. With the renewal of the curriculum in 2011, evolution is given greater prominence, especially in the 9th grade. With this research we want to check some knowledge about the evolution of primary schools in Dolenjska and what is their relationship to the theory of evolution. We wanted to know whether there is a connection between understanding the evolutionary development and attitude to the theory of evolution and whether this influence school, sex, age, and parental education. Data were collected through a questionnaire, which included survey questions and examinations questions. We interviewed pupils of three schools in the Dolenjska (Primary schools Grn, Drska and Šmihel). A total of 376 pupils from 19 classes were questioned. We covered the age of 13-15 years. It turned out that the pupils of Dolenjska primary schools have a satisfactory knowledge, but that knowledge varies depending on the age. We have found that older pupils have more knowledge and eccept evolution ideas to a greater extent, compared with creationist ideas. In addition, we found some differences between the sexes and that knowledge also depends on which school the pupils attend. It has also been shown that knowledge of evolution is partially influenced by parental education. In general, at the completion of primary education in Dolenjska primary schools, the theory of evolution is largely accepted.
