This work presents the various ways of backup power supply and presentation of design and implementation of backup power supply in a particular facility.
The backup power supply of electricity is an essential part of any electrical installation for protection from any planned or unexpected blackouts of electricity.
Planned is usually happening due to various maintenance work and interventions on the electrical network, while unforeseen most often occur due to the defects and failure of equipment and various natural phenomena.
Errors or repairs on the electrical network detached us from the permanent power supply. Therefore the backup power supply system should or must be used in hospitals, mines, airports, banks, industry… Lack of electricity causes serious or even severe consequences, it can endanger human lives, lead to major congestion on roads and railways and impending chaos.
This work introduces some of the backup power supply systems, such as diesel power unit, uninterrupted power system (UPS) and fuel cell supply.
The process of planning, design and implementation of the project backup power supply with an additional diesel power unit in a particular facility is also described.
