Abstract
This study investigates the effect of workplace sex composition on men who do "women's work". Using data from 5,734 U.S. school teachers, I conduct multinomial logistic regression analyses to test hypotheses regarding menʼs and womenʼs relative likelihood of moving out of teaching and advancing up into administrative positions. Results from these analyses provide no evidence that Kanterʼs tokenism proposition is generalizable to token men who teach in elementary schools; rather than suffering disadvantages, evidence supports Williamsʼs "glass escalator" proposition that men enjoy privilege in predominantly female jobs and are more likely than women to be promoted into administrative positions.

Abstract:
Ta študija proučuje vpliv spolne strukture delovnih mest na moške, ki opravljajo "žensko delo". Uporabil sem podatke o 5.734 ameriških učiteljih in opravil multinomialno logistično regresijsko analizo, da bi preveril hipotezo glede verjetnosti, da bi moški ali ženske zapustili učiteljski poklic in napredovali na vodilne položaje. Rezultati analiz ne potrjujejo predpostavke Rosabeth M. Kanter o simbolično prisotnih ("tokens") v primeru maloštevilnih moških, ki učijo v osnovnih šolah; namesto slabšega položaja rezultati podpirajo predpostavko o "steklenem dvigalu" Christine Williams, ki pravi, da moški uživajo prednostni položaj v prevladujoče ženskih poklicih in so bolj pogosto kot ženske promovirani na vodilne položaje.
