The diploma thesis entitled Assessing the understanding of the book/printing concept in a group of 5- to 6-year-old children in the Metlika Nursery School consists of a theoretical and empirical part.
The theoretical part comprises five sections defining the following concepts: literacy, types of literacy, understanding the printing concept, reading literacy, family literacy, literary education in nursery school.
The aim of the thesis is to assess the understanding of the book/printing concept in a group of 5- to 6-year-old children, which is established by means of a checklist. The empirical part includes the interpretation of the results presented in a table.
