Digital libraries can be intended for different user groups. Young adults are a special user group also from the perspective of library services in traditional or digital environment. Their characteristics, needs and expectations differ and at the same time their skills in finding information also differentiate from other user groups. The purpose of this thesis is to present the existing examples of digital libraries, intended for the youth, and their characteristics while paying special attention to the adjustments that are meant for the young people. We have also presented the key characteristics and information needs and requirements of the young adults. We have chosen five examples of digital libraries. These are Virtual Career Library, National Science Digital Library, Internet Public Library, Project Muse and Digital Library of Earth System Education. The examples have been assessed by using the expert study within which three groups of criteria have been used. In determining the presence of individual criteria, we have used the four-scale assessment. The research, which has tested both general user satisfaction and inclusion of adjustments, has shown that the majority of the selected examples of digital libraries for the youth do take into consideration the key characteristics of users. To a great extent, there have also been various adjustments available whose task is to ensure that young people feel more accepted and welcome while online. In terms of possible improvements, we see the most potential in the function of assistance, search and organization of the collection. The findings can also represent guidelines for the development of the more adjusted digital libraries for young adults in Slovenia which would take into consideration the characteristics and information behavior of the youth by offering the suitable content and services. Simultaneously, the youth would be offered a system for inquiry which would make it easier to search for information and would also encourage interaction, networking and group cooperation. Currently, there are not any similar systems in Slovenia and this is also demonstrated by the choice of the examples of digital libraries which are all exclusively foreign.
