Abstract

Abstract:
With E-readers and e-books the publishing market in US has changed significanty. There are many changes in communication circuit of the e-book in comparison with printed book: the press does not exist anymore, the brick and mortar bookstores are replaced by online bookstores. Self-publishing brings even more changes in communication circuit as authors avoid publishing houses and go directly to online bookstores. Publishing market for e-books in Slovenia is at the beginning and the new communication circuit is currently in development phase. Survey analysis enabled us to found out that Slovene e-reader and tablet owners buy e-books in foreign online bookstores when they buy them at all (they tend to prefer free e-books available online). On the other side they still buy books and they do so mostly in brick and mortar bookstores. As there is more content available in English than Slovene we wanted to find out in which languages Slovene owners of e-readers and tablets read. They frequently read books and online content in Slovene and English but they tend to not read e-books in Slovene. They do read e-books in English.
