Abstract

Title:
The five Tibetan rites in primary schools
Abstract:
The diploma thesis The Five Tibetan Rites in Primary Schools discuses the effect of movement and creative movement on relaxation and tiredness in the classroom in today's fast tempo that is already present in young children's life. In the theoretical part I defined tiredness in school, its causes, signs and consequences to quality in studying process. In this relation I focused on indicators of lack of energy in students, which are low levels of concentration, motivation and their level of interest in lessons. Further on I introduced the instrument »Tibetan Rites for Children«, its function in coping with distractions in class. As the author Schmidt (2008) explains the exercises are games for stretching, focus and relaxation and therefore in pupils release muscular, mental and emotional tension. We approached students by adding creative assignment to encourage active role in exercises as well theirs and teachers creativity. Based on former researches positive links between sports activity and students school achievement (including school work at home) I presented the use of Tibetan Rites and positive effects of creative movement as holistic method in lessons on emotional, physical, cognitive and social development of children. The study included 9 teachers and 160 pupils attending primary school for researching the effects of Tibetan Rites on the course of further lessons as well as instrument for teachers in primary schools. In my observations practicing Tibetan Rites in classroom when pupils’ levels of concentration and motivation are low, showed significant differences in continuing lesson. These findings were concluded by analyzing two questionnaires which presented the highest rated effect on pupils activity in class (average difference 2,00), following improved concentration (average difference 1,78) and motivation level (average difference 1,66) in continuing lesson. Results showed that an instrument Tibetan Rites is useful for teachers in order to calm down and relax pupils’ tension. Exercises were well accepted among the pupils, they were practicing them at home and introduced them to relatives. The pupils expressed satisfaction and relaxed condition during and after practicing exercises in which according to teacher’s estimations (36 %) creative assignment was their favorite task. Among presented effects we find pupils’ improvement of body agility, skills and creativity. The instrument Tibetan Rites appeared to be effective gadget for eliminating consequences of tiredness in primary schools.
